**New Delhi** – Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi Friday in the Rajya Sabha, dismissing Gandhi’s observations on Jammu and Kashmir’s development and security situation. Shah’s remarks came during a debate on his ministry’s performance.
Shah questioned Gandhi’s perspective, stating, “If someone is wearing black glasses (referencing Gandhi’s appearance), how can they see the development?” He further ridiculed Gandhi’s account of seeing terrorists during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, saying, “If someone has terrorists in their mind, they will see them in their dreams and in Kashmir.”
Highlighting the Modi government’s “zero-tolerance” policy towards terrorism, Shah claimed a significant drop in terror-related deaths in Jammu and Kashmir. He credited the government’s strong response to attacks like Uri and Pulwama with surgical and air strikes, contrasting it with the previous government’s allegedly more lenient approach.
Shah also announced a decisive timeline for eliminating Naxalism, stating, “I say with responsibility that Naxalism in this country will be eliminated by March 21, 2026.” He outlined measures taken to improve intelligence gathering and address the Naxal challenge, dismissing the notion that it is merely a political issue.
The Home Minister’s speech covered a range of topics, including efforts to combat terrorism in J&K, the Naxal insurgency, drug abuse, and challenges in the Northeast. His forceful pronouncements set a firm tone for the government’s approach to internal security.
