**TIRUNELVELI, March 22, 2025** – Despite recent rainfall in the region, water levels in key dams in Tirunelveli remain significantly below their maximum capacity. According to the latest reports, Papanasam dam is at 91.85 feet (out of 143 feet), with an inflow of 151.31 cusecs and a discharge of 500 cusecs. Manimuthar dam stands at 86.45 feet (out of 118 feet), with an inflow of 157.32 cusecs and a discharge of 425 cusecs.
Rainfall in the 24 hours ending Saturday at 6 a.m. was minimal, with Cheranmahadevi recording 1.80 mm, Nanguneri 10 mm, Papanasam 5 mm, Radhapuram 11 mm, Manjolai 2 mm, Kakkachi 2 mm, Nalumukku 4 mm, and Oothu 4 mm. While the rainfall indicates some replenishment, the dam levels suggest the amounts were insufficient to significantly raise water reserves.
