Fri Mar 21 18:58:28 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Tribunal Orders Review of KPSC Exam Translation Errors

**Bengaluru, March 22, 2025** – The Karnataka State Administrative Tribunal has ordered a re-examination of translated questions in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) preliminary exam for 385 Gazetted Probationer Group A and B posts. While rejecting calls for a complete re-examination, the tribunal directed KPSC to refer the disputed questions to an expert committee.

The issue stems from complaints regarding translation errors from English to Kannada in the December 29, 2024, re-exam. Although an initial expert committee reviewed 58 initially disputed questions, further complaints arose, identifying errors in an additional 79 questions. The tribunal noted that the exam instructions specified that candidates should refer to the English version if confused by the Kannada translation. However, acknowledging concerns raised by applicants, the tribunal decided to have a further examination of those questions not already reviewed. The tribunal emphasized the importance of finality in exam results, while ensuring fairness to candidates.

The original exam, held August 27, 2024, prompted a re-examination due to initial translation error complaints. A subsequent review by 12 subject expert committees found only five questions to have impacted candidate scores, for which grace marks were initially recommended. The KPSC released results on February 10, 2025, declaring 5,746 candidates eligible for the main examination. The Tribunal’s order now seeks to address the remaining disputed translations before the main exam proceeds.
