Sat Mar 22 09:14:27 UTC 2025: ## Israeli Demolition of Gaza Cancer Hospital Sparks International Outrage

**Gaza City, Palestine** – The Israeli military’s demolition of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship Hospital in Gaza has triggered widespread international condemnation. The hospital, the largest cancer treatment facility in Gaza, was completely destroyed in a deliberate act, according to witnesses and officials. The destruction leaves thousands of cancer patients without access to vital care.

The hospital, rebuilt in 2017 with a $34 million Turkish donation, had already suffered damage from previous Israeli airstrikes. Israel claims the hospital was used by Hamas as a command center, a claim that has yet to be substantiated with evidence. However, Turkey’s foreign ministry vehemently condemned the attack, calling it “part of Israel’s policy aimed at rendering Gaza uninhabitable” and an example of “systematic state terrorism.” The Gaza Ministry of Health echoed these sentiments, denouncing the action as a “criminal behavior” and part of a systematic effort to destroy Gaza’s healthcare system.

The demolition came as Israel announced an expansion of its military operation in the Netzarim Corridor, near the hospital, further restricting movement in the area. Fuel shortages had already forced the hospital to close earlier this month, resulting in the deaths of four patients.

The destruction of the hospital is not an isolated incident. Al Jazeera reports that five children died after an airstrike on al-Ahli Arab Hospital in northern Gaza. Ongoing intense airstrikes across northern Gaza and Gaza City are also reported.

Amidst the escalating violence, Hamas is reportedly considering a US-brokered ceasefire proposal, while European nations are pressing for immediate action to restore a truce and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza. However, US envoy Steve Witkoff offered only vague assurances of achieving “stability” in Gaza, leaving the future uncertain. The international community is increasingly calling for accountability for the destruction of the hospital and for an end to the ongoing conflict.
