Sat Mar 22 12:18:06 UTC 2025: ## Tiruchi Flyover Construction Begins to Ease Traffic Congestion

**Tiruchi, March 22, 2025** – Construction has begun on a much-anticipated flyover in Tiruchi, aimed at alleviating severe traffic congestion near the Town Railway Station. The ₹23.45 crore project, a joint venture between the State Highways Department and the Railways, will see a 750-meter flyover built over the level crossing on Cauvery Road.

The project, sanctioned in August 2022, faced delays due to land acquisition issues. However, these have now been largely resolved, with the exception of one remaining property. Demolition of existing structures on acquired land has already commenced.

The flyover is expected to significantly reduce traffic jams caused by frequent closures of the railway gate on this busy section connecting Srirangam and the Town Railway Station on the Tiruchi-Chennai Chord Line. Local resident Ibrahim Shah expressed optimism, stating the flyover will provide an efficient alternative route to Gandhi Market and ease the burden on commuters.

The project is slated for completion by July 2026, offering a welcome relief to residents who have long endured the daily traffic disruptions.
