Fri Mar 21 19:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Unseasonal Rains Lash Telangana, Causing Crop Damage and One Death
**Hyderabad, [Date]:** Unseasonal rains and hailstorms swept across Telangana on Friday, causing significant damage to crops and resulting in one death. The downpour, ranging from light to moderate in intensity, affected several districts, with the highest rainfall of 2 centimeters recorded in Muthol, Nirmal district.
Moderate rainfall was reported in Nizamabad, Medak, Siddipet, Mancherial, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, and other areas. The hailstones severely impacted standing crops, particularly paddy, maize, and mango, causing widespread losses for farmers. Reports indicate that paddy grains in the milk stage, mango blossoms and fruits, and maize crops were severely damaged or destroyed in minutes. Farmers expressed their distress at the loss of their hard work.
Tragically, a 79-year-old man, Chandekar Daulat, died in Kagaznagar, Kumaram Bheem district, when a wall collapsed due to the heavy downpour.
While the rains brought relief from the scorching heat, the agricultural losses are a major concern. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast further rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in several districts, including Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam, Nalgonda, Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, and Mahabubnagar, for the next three days. The IMD advises caution due to the potential for further damage.
