**Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh –** Andhra Pradesh is sweltering under a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 40°C in several districts. Residents are struggling with the intense heat, making even daytime outings difficult. The situation has prompted concerns, but the Andhra Pradesh Meteorological Department (APMD) has offered a glimmer of hope.

The APMD forecasts light to moderate rain in several parts of the state this weekend (Saturday, Sunday, and Monday). These showers are expected to be accompanied by strong winds (40-50 kmph) and thunderstorms. The highest temperature recorded on Thursday was 40.3°C in Dornipaddu, Nandyal district. Other high temperatures included 40.2°C in Ontimitta, YSR district, and 40.1°C in Laddigari, Kurnool district. Heatwave conditions and strong winds were reported across 30 mandals.

In response to the extreme weather, Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand has urged residents to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions against the heatwave.

While the forecast brings much-needed relief, the current heatwave is already causing significant discomfort across the state.
