**Hyderabad, March 21** – Telangana is set to experience a dramatic shift in weather conditions, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad issuing an orange alert for severe thunderstorms across the state from March 22nd to 24th. The alert warns of lightning, gusty winds (40-50 kmph), and even hailstorms in several districts.
Nizamabad, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy districts are under the highest level of alert (orange). A yellow alert (medium intensity), indicating lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph), has been issued for a wider range of districts including Adilabad, KomaramBheem Asifabad, and Hyderabad, among others. Independent forecaster T Balaji, known as TelanganaWeatherman on X, corroborated the IMD’s forecast, predicting severe, scattered intense, and isolated storms across the state during the same period. He anticipates the storms beginning in central and north Telangana on March 22nd, expanding to the south and east on March 23rd and 24th, with the eastern parts expected to experience the most severe weather.
While maximum temperatures will remain largely unchanged for the next three days, the IMD forecasts a slight drop below normal temperatures in the following three-day period. Residents are advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions during this period of anticipated severe weather.
