**DHAKA, BANGLADESH** – A local leader of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of Bangladesh’s Nationalist Party (BNP), succumbed to injuries sustained during a factional clash. Md Rashed, 27, a former general secretary of a JCD committee, died while being transported to a Dhaka hospital on March 20th.
The clash, which occurred Wednesday morning at Nuruddin Bazar, stemmed from a dispute between two rival BNP factions over embankment construction by the Water Development Board. At least ten others were injured in the violence, with both BNP and Awami League supporters reportedly involved, according to Monpura police station officer-in-charge Ahsan Kabir.
Rashed’s family has filed a complaint, and police are actively pursuing arrests. The incident highlights ongoing internal tensions within the BNP.
