**Sonepat, India (March 21, 2025):** Ashoka University today announced the launch of the Ashoka School of Advanced Computing (ASAC), a new initiative aimed at revolutionizing computer science education and research. ASAC will integrate computational thinking across diverse disciplines, including natural sciences, social sciences, and humanities.

The school plans to conduct groundbreaking research in computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML), focusing on applying computational approaches to address global challenges such as healthcare, climate change, and public policy. Over the next five years, the university aims to secure ₹250 crore in funding to support ASAC’s growth, research initiatives, and attract top faculty and students worldwide.

“ASAC is a reimagination of computer science education,” stated Prof. Somak Raychaudhury, Vice Chancellor of Ashoka University. The interdisciplinary approach will cultivate “computational thinkers” equipped with both technical expertise and social and ethical awareness to tackle complex global challenges.

ASAC will offer a range of academic programs blending traditional computer science with fields like mathematics, economics, and philosophy. Future programs will expand into areas such as cognitive science, biology, AI, and data science. The school will also house several Centers of Excellence focusing on cutting-edge research in data analytics, AI-driven healthcare, digital ethics, and societal problem-solving.
