Fri Mar 21 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Unseasonal Weather Sweeps Across Madhya Pradesh

**Bhopal, March 21:** Madhya Pradesh is experiencing a dramatic shift in weather, with hailstorms, rain, and strong winds sweeping across the state. The unusual conditions are attributed to the simultaneous presence of two cyclonic circulations and a western disturbance, according to the Meteorological Department.

Over 20 districts, including Bhopal, Sagar, Sehore, and Rewa, experienced the volatile weather on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert for 30 districts, with the Jabalpur, Gwalior, Sagar, and Shahdol divisions expected to be the most affected. The erratic weather is forecast to continue through March 23rd.

Senior scientist Dr. Divya E. Surendran of the Bhopal Meteorological Department explained the phenomenon, stating that the convergence of these three weather systems is responsible for the hailstorms, rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds.

Daytime temperatures have significantly dropped in several cities. For example, Sidhi recorded a high of 27.8°C, Rewa 28.8°C, Satna 31.4°C, and Naugaon 32.5°C.

The IMD predicts hailstorms in Damoh, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, and Anuppur over the next 24 hours. An orange alert has been issued for strong winds in Morena, Gwalior, Bhind, and Datia. Other districts are expected to experience thunderstorms and strong winds.

The IMD also forecasts continued volatile weather for the next two days, with specific orange alerts for hail and strong winds in several districts on March 22nd. By March 24th, the current system’s impact is expected to subside, with another western disturbance potentially affecting the state.

The unseasonal weather has caused concern among farmers, worried about damage to their standing rabi crops. While some welcomed the respite from the heat, the hail and heavy rain in certain areas pose a significant threat to agricultural yields.

The IMD predicts that the heat will return towards the end of March, with the possibility of heat waves in some areas, potentially exceeding 40°C in certain districts. The department anticipates 15-20 heatwave days between March and May, with April and May expected to be particularly intense. The long-term forecast suggests that the region will experience intense heat for the next four months.

The article concludes with a summary of typical March weather trends in five major MP cities, highlighting the variations in temperature and rainfall experienced in recent years.
