**Mangaluru, March 20, 2025** – Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner M.P. Mullai Muhilan has called for a unified command system to improve safety across industrial and residential areas in the district. Speaking at the inauguration of the 54th National Safety Day on Thursday, Mr. Muhilan highlighted the presence of numerous high-risk industrial establishments in the region. He emphasized the need for regular safety system checks and preventative measures to contain hazards and prevent their spread. A unified command, involving all relevant departments and agencies, would be crucial in minimizing loss of life and property, he stated. The Deputy Commissioner also urged citizens to regularly assess their own safety parameters. The event was organized by the National Safety Council, Mangaluru Action Centre, in association with the Karnataka State Safety Institute and the Department of Factories, Boilers, Industrial Safety and Health. Several officials from various departments and industries were in attendance.
