**Mumbai, March 20, 2025** – Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal finalized his divorce from choreographer Dhanashree Verma today at the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai. The high-profile split concluded with Chahal paying a reported ₹4.75 crore in alimony, as per the terms of their mutual consent divorce plea.

Chahal’s appearance at the hearing generated significant attention due to his choice of attire: a T-shirt emblazoned with the phrase “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.” The phrase, often used to denote financial independence, was interpreted by many as a statement following the substantial alimony payment.

The couple, who married in 2020, had been living separately since June 2022. Their initial divorce plea in February was initially delayed due to incomplete alimony payments. However, after appealing to the Bombay High Court, the mandatory six-month cooling-off period was waived, allowing the divorce to proceed.

Rumors of the couple’s separation surfaced in 2024, with both parties removing photos of each other from their social media accounts. While remaining publicly silent on the matter until the filing of their joint plea, the separation was eventually confirmed by Dhanashree Verma’s family lawyer.

Chahal, who was recently acquired by the Punjab Kings for ₹18 crore in the IPL auction, will rejoin his team ahead of their opening match against the Gujarat Titans on March 25th.
