Thu Mar 20 09:36:29 UTC 2025: ## Boeing and Indian Startup Partner to Develop Autonomous Underwater Vessels

**New Delhi, March 20, 2025** – Boeing subsidiary Liquid Robotics and Indian startup Sagar Defence Engineering have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop and manufacture Autonomous Surface Vessels (ASVs). This collaboration marks a significant milestone in U.S.-India defense industrial cooperation, focusing on enhancing undersea domain awareness.

The partnership will involve manufacturing, system interoperability, ocean testing, and establishing maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the Wave Glider ASV platform in India. The initiative aligns with the Autonomous Systems Industry Alliance (ASIA), launched during Prime Minister Modi’s recent U.S. visit, aiming to expand industry partnerships and strengthen production capabilities across the Indo-Pacific.

“This partnership underscores our commitment to co-developing and co-producing critical systems in India,” said Salil Gupte, president of Boeing India and South Asia. Shane Goodenough, CEO of Liquid Robotics, highlighted the Wave Glider’s importance in strengthening tactical readiness in the Indo-Pacific and advancing bilateral defense cooperation.

Capt. Nikunj Parashar (Retd), founder of Sagar Defence Engineering, emphasized the collaboration’s role in fostering innovation within India’s defense ecosystem. The Wave Glider project is the first of its kind between a U.S. company and an Indian startup, signifying a major step forward in joint underwater domain awareness efforts. This builds upon previously announced collaborations involving other UDA technologies, including sonobuoys, and autonomous underwater vehicles.
