**KOCHI, March 20, 2025** – The Kerala Film Producers’ Association (KFPA) has filed a defamation suit against Jayan Cherthala, an AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes) ad-hoc committee member, in the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court. The suit stems from Cherthala’s claim that the KFPA had not repaid a portion of financial support provided by AMMA.
The KFPA issued Cherthala a notice in February 2025 demanding a retraction of his statement and an apology within seven days. Failing to receive a response, the producers’ association initiated legal action. Cherthala has indicated that AMMA will respond to the defamation case.
