**Panaji, Goa – March 20, 2025** – Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that the Central government’s Sagarmala project is significantly improving coastal tourism and daily commutes in the state. Addressing the National Sagarmala Apex Committee meeting in New Delhi yesterday, Mr. Sawant highlighted projects focusing on port modernization and jetty strengthening.

The meeting, chaired by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and attended by Nitin Gadkari and representatives from other coastal states, emphasized port-linked industrialization to boost exports. Mr. Sawant stressed the importance of coastal community development, focusing on skill enhancement, financial inclusion, and economic growth through initiatives such as Ro-Ro services and the Water Metro. The Sagarmala project, according to the government, aims to unlock the potential of port-led development as envisioned by Prime Minister Modi.
