**Hyderabad, March 19, 2025** – The Telangana state government has allocated ₹465 crore for sports development in its 2025-26 budget, announced on Wednesday. This significant investment includes plans for a new Young India Sports University and a state-of-the-art Sports Hub.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka highlighted the government’s commitment to nurturing athletic talent. The planned Young India Sports University, a 200-acre campus in Hakimpet, will feature 12 specialized sports academies. The Sports Hub, located within the Future City, will boast cutting-edge infrastructure, including a Sports Science Centre and a Sports Medicine Centre, aiming to provide world-class training and athlete development.
The Deputy Chief Minister lauded the achievements of several Telangana athletes, including cricketer Mohammed Siraj, boxer Nikhat Zareen, and para-athlete Deepthi Jeevanji. Siraj and Zareen have been rewarded with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) positions, while Jeevanji, the first woman from Telangana to win a Paralympic medal (2024), has received a Group 2 government job. Vikramarka specifically praised Jeevanji’s “inspiring journey and contribution to sports.” The budget announcement signifies Telangana’s ambition to become a leading destination for sporting excellence.
