Wed Mar 19 05:21:53 UTC 2025: ## Congress MP Rakesh Rathore Released on Bail in Rape Case

**Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, March 19, 2025** – Congress MP Rakesh Rathore was released from Sitapur jail this morning after securing bail in a rape case. The MP, arrested on January 30th, had been granted bail by the Allahabad High Court on March 11th on charges under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). However, subsequent charges under Section 69 (sexual intercourse by deceit) delayed his release.

Rathore secured bail on Tuesday, March 18th, from Chief Judicial Magistrate Gaurav Prakash, after furnishing two bail bonds of ₹1 lakh each. Police allege that Rathore raped a 45-year-old woman under the pretense of marriage and promises of political advancement. He was apprehended during a press conference where he was addressing the allegations.

“We secured the bail at the earliest and are thankful to the system. The MP, his well-wishers and supporters are very happy,” stated Anil Rathore, the MP’s brother.
