**Orlando, FL –** The first weekend of spring break in Central Florida was marred by a series of devastating car crashes, leaving several people dead and others injured. Authorities are urging increased caution on the roads due to the surge in spring break traffic.
The most serious incident occurred Sunday in Osceola County, where a wrong-way driver on State Road 441 in Kenansville collided head-on with a car carrying five people. A 30-year-old man driving the wrong way struck the vehicle, causing it to overturn. A 54-year-old woman, a 34-year-old woman, and a 5-year-old boy were killed. The driver and a 9-month-old baby sustained minor injuries.
Another wrong-way crash occurred earlier in the weekend on Interstate 4 near Longwood, resulting in one fatality and injuries to occupants of a minivan. A separate multi-vehicle collision on State Road 429, caused by a driver drifting into another lane, sent four people to the hospital. Additionally, a 49-year-old man died in a head-on collision on State Road 415 near Osteen on Saturday night.
