Wed Mar 19 09:51:00 UTC 2025: ## Fresh Corruption Allegations Plague Aam Aadmi Party Leaders

**New Delhi** – A fresh wave of corruption allegations is engulfing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), with former Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain facing new charges of bribery. The Delhi government’s Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has filed a case against Jain, accusing him of accepting a ₹7 crore bribe to waive a ₹16 crore penalty related to a ₹571 crore CCTV camera installation project.

The project, involving the installation of over one lakh CCTV cameras across Delhi, was awarded to Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL). The ACB alleges that Jain accepted the bribe to cover delays in the project and claims its case is supported by a statement from a BEL officer detailing the alleged bribery and subsequent shoddy installations. A second order for an additional 1.4 lakh cameras was placed after the initial delays, further fueling the allegations.

The BJP’s Delhi unit chief, Virendra Sachdeva, has strongly criticized the AAP, accusing the party of attempting to suppress the investigation while in power. Neither the AAP nor Jain has yet responded to these accusations.

This is not the only legal trouble facing AAP leaders. Jain, granted bail last October after his arrest in an Enforcement Directorate money laundering case, is also facing prosecution in a disproportionate assets case, approved by President Droupadi Murmu last month.

Meanwhile, AAP chief and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is facing a six-year-old charge of misusing public funds for party promotions, and his former deputy is embroiled in a ₹2,000 crore scam related to school construction. The ongoing investigation into the Delhi liquor excise policy scam, which resulted in the arrest of both Kejriwal and his former deputy Manish Sisodia, continues to cast a shadow over the party. A recent Comptroller and Auditor-General report indicated a ₹2,002 crore loss to the state due to the policy.

The AAP denies all allegations, claiming they are politically motivated attacks by the BJP, who also accused Kejriwal of misusing taxpayer funds for bungalow renovations. Despite these denials, the BJP’s landslide victory in last month’s Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats, reflects a significant shift in public opinion.
