**Thiruvananthapuram, March 19, 2025** – The Kerala Cabinet approved a ₹26.56 crore allocation for land acquisition to rehabilitate victims of the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslides in Wayanad district. The funds, sourced from the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF), will purchase 64.4075 hectares of land from Elston Estate for the construction of a new township. Additionally, 21 children who lost one or both parents in the tragedy will each receive ₹10 lakh for their education, also from the CMDRF, with the funds only accessible upon reaching the age of 18. This aid supplements existing assistance from the Women and Child Development department.
