**Bengaluru, March 19, 2025** – The World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF-India) is launching a nationwide water conservation campaign in conjunction with Earth Hour 2025 and UN World Water Day on March 22nd. This year’s initiative, #BeWaterWise, aims to inspire individuals to adopt water-conscious practices throughout the year.
Celebrities including Dia Mirza, Viswanathan Anand, and Ricky Kej are lending their support to the campaign, which is highlighting the urgent need for collective action to protect the planet’s precious water resources.
Events are already underway in Bengaluru, with campaigns at several universities featuring life-sized elephant sculptures crafted from invasive Lantana Camera plants. These installations, coupled with expert talks, are spreading awareness about conservation and coexistence. A musical performance by Ryan Collective at the KSR Railway station on March 19th further amplified the message.
A major Earth Hour event is planned for March 22nd at the Greater Hessarghatta Grassland Conservation Reserve, in collaboration with the Karnataka Forest Department. Activities will include a nature trail, cleanup drive, interactive games, and expert presentations focused on water and biodiversity conservation.
WWF-India Secretary-General and CEO Ravi Singh emphasized the significance of this year’s Earth Hour, stating that its alignment with World Water Day provides a powerful platform to drive collective action for water conservation across India and globally.
