WARANGAL, TELANGANA – Warangal Commissionerate police on Tuesday arrested a gang involved in the kidnapping of a minor girl, forcing her into drug abuse, and attempting to sell her into prostitution. Police seized a car, 1.8 kg of cannabis, ₹75,000 in cash, and a large quantity of condoms from the accused.

According to Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh, the investigation began after the parents of a 16-year-old girl filed a missing person report on November 11th. The investigation revealed a trafficking ring led by Musku Lata, who runs a brothel in Musku Lata Lyadhel village. Lata, having befriended an 18-year-old orphaned girl, used Instagram to target other school-going girls. She subsequently lured a 10th-grade girl from Mills Colony into her scheme.

On November 11th, Lata and her accomplice, Abdul Afnas from Warangal Shambhunipet, kidnapped the girl. They, along with Sheikh Sailani Baba and Mohammed Altaf (also from Shambhunipet), purchased cannabis from Mirza Faiz Beg and forced the girl to consume it. Sailani Baba then raped the girl at an old building near Narsampet. The gang threatened the girl with released videos of the drug use and rape, intending to sell her into prostitution. However, they abandoned her near Mulugu road out of fear.

Police identified the victim and, based on her statement, arrested Lata, the 18-year-old girl, Afnas, Sailani Baba, Altaf, and Faiz Beg. The police commissioner also stated that the gang attempted to trap another girl from the city but failed. Afnas, Sailani Baba, Altaf, and Faiz Beg are repeat offenders with prior convictions for murder, attempted murder, rape, and cannabis-related offenses. The investigation is ongoing.
