Sun Mar 16 10:07:27 UTC 2025: ## Pakistan Hit by Fresh Wave of Rebel Violence: Dozens Killed in Attacks

**QUETTA, Pakistan** – A surge in violence across Pakistan has left at least 58 dead and dozens more injured this week, authorities reported. The deadliest incident occurred Sunday when a suicide bombing targeting a military convoy in Balochistan province killed five soldiers and wounded 35 others. The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), a separatist group, claimed responsibility for the attack, stating it was carried out by their suicide branch.

This attack follows a devastating assault on a passenger train in Balochistan earlier this week, also claimed by the BLA, that resulted in numerous fatalities. The exact number of casualties from the train attack remains unclear, but reports indicate dozens were killed during the subsequent two-day siege.

Separately, three security personnel were killed Saturday in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, a region witnessing a rise in attacks by the Pakistani Taliban since the Afghan Taliban’s return to power in 2021.

According to AFP tallies, approximately 130 people, mostly security forces, have been killed in attacks by various armed groups across western Pakistan since the start of the year. The escalating violence highlights the ongoing conflict in Balochistan, where separatists accuse the state of exploiting the region’s resources. The situation underscores growing instability in the region bordering Afghanistan and Iran.
