**Los Angeles, CA** – A 3.9 magnitude earthquake struck just west of Malibu at 8:17 p.m. Sunday, prompting reports of light but prolonged shaking in nearby communities such as Thousand Oaks, where residents described a “pretty good rattle” lasting about 10 seconds.

The quake, which hit at a depth of 8.9 miles, was also felt in Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, and Oak Park. While relatively minor, this is the second significant earthquake in the region in the last 10 days. According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), the event is consistent with the average annual occurrence of five earthquakes measuring between 3.0 and 4.0 in the Greater Los Angeles area.
