**Thiruvananthapuram, March 16, 2025** – A scrap collector, Easwar Chand, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested by the Medical College police for allegedly stealing several surgical specimens from the Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College Hospital. Chand was apprehended on the hospital premises shortly after the theft was discovered. He claims to have been assaulted by hospital staff.

Following the incident, hospital attender Ajayakumar, from the housekeeping wing, was suspended. Kerala Health Minister Veena George has ordered an inquiry into the matter, directing the Director of Medical Education to submit an urgent report.
