Sun Mar 16 15:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Modi Urges Youth to Embrace Challenges, Focus on “Doing” Over “Becoming”

**New Delhi** – In a recent podcast interview with Lex Fridman, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered words of encouragement and advice to young people navigating life’s challenges. He emphasized the importance of faith, perseverance, and a focus on action over achieving a specific identity.

Modi framed difficulties as tests of endurance, stating, “Difficulties are a test of endurance; they are not meant to defeat me. Hardships exist to make me stronger.” He stressed the importance of unwavering faith in a higher power and a belief in one’s purpose. He shared his personal philosophy: “I am here for a purpose, sent by a higher power. And I am not alone; the one who sent me is always with me.”

Advising young people struggling to find their purpose, Modi cautioned against solely focusing on “becoming” something. Instead, he urged a focus on “doing,” arguing that setting achievable goals and consistently working towards them fosters resilience and prevents discouragement, even if ultimate targets aren’t fully met. He cited his own journey of mastering Hindi, a language not native to him, as an example of continuous learning and growth.

The Prime Minister concluded by encouraging lifelong learning, stating, “Learning should never stop. I believe that as long as I am alive, I must have a purpose. Perhaps I exist to keep learning, to keep growing.” He urged patience and perseverance, reminding young people that “there are no shortcuts in life.”
