Sat Mar 15 19:07:02 UTC 2025: ## Opposition Parties Criticize Tamil Nadu Government’s Agricultural Policies

**CHENNAI, March 16, 2025** – The Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and former AIADMK leader V.K. Sasikala have sharply criticized the DMK government in Tamil Nadu for its handling of agricultural policies. They allege that despite significant funding allocated for programs aimed at boosting farmers’ incomes and promoting millets and oilseeds, farmers have not seen any tangible benefits.

AMMK founder T.T.V. Dhinakaran stated that the government has failed to implement effective measures to protect farmers’ livelihoods and increase agricultural income. He pointed to the lack of evidence showing improvements resulting from government initiatives, despite crores of rupees being allocated.

Sasikala echoed these concerns, adding that the government has defaulted on its share of premiums for crop insurance schemes. Furthermore, she criticized the lack of new initiatives to increase income for farmers and highlighted issues with paddy procurement in the Cauvery delta region. Both opposition figures called for immediate action to address these issues and support the state’s agricultural sector.
