**Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, March 16, 2025** – A police officer was killed and several others injured in a mob attack in Mauganj district, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday, March 15, 2025. The attack occurred when a police team, including the Tehsildar and SHO, intervened in a clash between two Hindu groups in Gadara village.

According to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shri Ramcharan Gautam succumbed to injuries sustained during the retaliatory attack. The Chief Minister expressed condolences to the bereaved family and stated that the injured officers have been hospitalized in Rewa. He further announced that Section 144 has been imposed in the area and that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the violence.

The initial dispute, as reported by District Collector Ajay Shrivastava, stemmed from a clash between two Hindu groups in the village. One man was killed during the initial conflict before the police intervention. Senior police officials, including the DIG Rewa and SP Mauganj, have arrived on the scene to control the situation and investigate the incident. The ADG Rewa Zone and DG Police have also been dispatched to oversee the situation.
