Sun Mar 16 12:45:20 UTC 2025: ## BIS Celebrates World Consumer Rights Day with BHEL Township Residents

**Tiruchi, March 16, 2025** – The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) Madurai branch celebrated World Consumer Rights Day on Saturday in collaboration with the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL) township in Tiruchi. The event, themed “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles,” featured a “residents’ welfare association standards carnival.”

Approximately 30 stalls showcased quality products, educating consumers about their production and testing processes. Nineteen BIS licensees participated, demonstrating their goods. Earlier in the week, school children from six BHEL township schools, including those from Arivalayam School for children with disabilities, competed in quizzes, poster design, and science project competitions.

S.D. Dayanand, senior director and head of BIS Madurai, emphasized the six consumer rights and highlighted the BIS CARE app, the importance of the ISI mark, Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) mark, and BIS Hallmark in ensuring product safety and quality. L. Ravindran, GM (HR), and K. Govindaraju, GM (Procurement), from BHEL, also attended the event.
