Founded in 1905 thanks to a generous bequest from solicitor Pennathur Subramania Iyer, the school boasts a rich history and a remarkable roll of alumni, including prominent figures from various fields.
Established by the Pennathur Subramaniam Trust, the school initially operated from a building at the junction of North and West Mada Streets before relocating to its present location in the 1920s.
