Sat Mar 15 19:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Women’s March Madness Selection Sunday: South Carolina Favored, Stanford’s Streak Ends

**NEW YORK, NY** – The NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament bracket will be revealed this Sunday, March 16th, at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN and fuboTV. After a thrilling conclusion to the conference tournaments, the field of 68 is set, with many anticipating a closely contested tournament.

Reigning champions South Carolina, led by Dawn Staley, are expected to be a top seed, despite facing stiffer competition this year compared to their undefeated 2022 run. Other predicted No. 1 seeds include UCLA, Texas, and USC, according to CBS Sports bracketologist Connor Groel.

However, this year’s tournament will mark a significant change for Stanford. After a first-round loss in the ACC tournament, the Cardinal will miss the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1987, ending their 36-year streak – the second-longest active streak in women’s basketball. The team’s rebuilding phase, following the retirement of legendary coach Tara VanDerveer and the loss of key players, contributed to their absence.

While Stanford’s absence is noteworthy, the tournament remains packed with powerhouse programs. UConn, with a record 11 national championships, will look to add another title to their impressive legacy. They’ve reached 15 of the last 16 Final Fours, including a remarkable 14 consecutive appearances from 2008-2022.

The top 16 teams will enjoy the home-court advantage for the first and second rounds. Thirty-two teams automatically qualified by winning their conference tournaments; the remaining spots will be filled during Selection Sunday’s reveal. The selection committee considers various factors when seeding, including overall record, significant wins, and strength of schedule. Fans can follow the selection show on ESPN and the CBS Sports app.
