Fri Mar 14 20:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Longhorns Aim for NCAA Tournament Berth with SEC Tournament Win Over Tennessee

**NASHVILLE, TN** – The Texas Longhorns basketball team is looking to secure an NCAA Tournament berth, needing a victory against the Tennessee Volunteers in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. Two wins already secured against Vanderbilt and Texas A&M have boosted their chances, but a win against the highly ranked Volunteers would significantly improve their seeding prospects.

The game, played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, marks a rematch of last year’s NCAA Tournament second-round clash, where Tennessee emerged victorious. Tennessee also defeated Texas earlier this season in Austin.

Despite a strong start from Tennessee’s Chaz Lanier, who led all scorers in the first half, Texas displayed a balanced offensive attack, featuring contributions from seven players and impressive shooting accuracy. The Longhorns’ bench also proved a key asset. However, containing Lanier and improving defensive stops remained a challenge for Texas. The Longhorns’ Tramon Mark suffered an early fall but returned to the game.

The Longhorns’ starting lineup included Jordan Pope, Tre Johnson (SEC Freshman of the Year), Tramon Mark, Arthur Kaluma, and Kadin Shedrick. Tennessee countered with their own star players, Chaz Lanier and Zakai Zeigler.

A victory for Texas would solidify their NCAA Tournament bid and improve their seeding position. The game is being broadcast on ESPN.
