Sat Mar 15 12:32:55 UTC 2025: ## Police Foil Revenge Killing Plot at Upcoming Temple Festival

**Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu –** Four men were arrested and deadly weapons seized on Saturday, thwarting a planned revenge killing at the upcoming Muthu Mariamman Temple festival in Karaikudi, Sivaganga district. Acting on a tip-off, Karaikudi Sub-Division police raided a house in Pallathur and apprehended Akilan (23), Viswanathan (20), Venkatesan (26), and Pandyan (25).

The suspects, allegedly hired by notorious criminal Pandi, planned to assassinate a rival history-sheeter and his accomplice. The plot is linked to a 2019 murder in Kundrakudi, stemming from a long-standing gang rivalry. Police say the planned attack was retaliation for the 2019 murder of Jayaraman, who was himself an accused in the 2018 murder of Murugan.

Superintendent of Police Ashish Rawat stated that the police will take strict action against those threatening public safety. The investigation continues, with police actively pursuing other individuals involved in the conspiracy. The timely intervention prevented what could have been a violent confrontation during the temple festival.
