Sat Mar 15 13:26:48 UTC 2025: ## Krishnagiri Collector Aims for Zero Infant Mortality, Intensifies TB Elimination Campaign

**Krishnagiri, March 15, 2025** – Krishnagiri District Collector C. Dinesh Kumar has launched a renewed push to improve maternal and child health, and eradicate tuberculosis in the district. Following a review meeting with the Department of Public Health and Family Welfare, Mr. Kumar set ambitious goals, including zero infant mortality and strengthened efforts to eliminate tuberculosis.

A report presented at the meeting revealed data on pregnancy rates, deliveries, immunisation levels, and maternal and infant mortality rates up to February 2025. The Collector expressed serious concern over the birth mortality rates of the past three years and directed officials to implement measures to achieve zero deaths.

The 100-day TB elimination campaign was also a key focus. Mr. Kumar stressed the importance of strengthening screening at primary health centres for patients exhibiting tuberculosis symptoms. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive report on all maternal mortalities to better understand and address the causes.

To improve overall health outcomes, the Collector mandated 100% child immunisation at birth with details uploaded to the U-WIN portal. He also directed the department to ensure all pregnancies are registered through the PICME portal and Reproductive Child Health cards, promoting institutional deliveries. Furthermore, strict monitoring of teenage pregnancies and illicit prenatal sex determination was emphasized.

Mr. Kumar commended the Deputy Director of Health and the Kelamangalam Block Medical Officer for their success in curbing sex-selective abortions. The overall aim is to significantly improve maternal and child health indicators and eradicate tuberculosis in Krishnagiri district.
