**Shangqiu, China** – The booming market for disposable underwear, touted for its convenience and hygiene, is facing serious scrutiny following an investigative report. While marketed with claims of EO sterilization and 99% antibacterial rates, a recent investigation in Shangqiu City reveals widespread unsanitary production practices in numerous factories.

Reporters uncovered several companies producing disposable underwear under severely unhygienic conditions. Factories lacked basic sanitation, with workers handling underwear without gloves in cluttered spaces containing garbage and other debris. Raw materials were haphazardly stored, and finished products were piled indiscriminately. In some instances, the production floor served as a dining area for workers.

The investigation further revealed significant discrepancies between advertised product descriptions and reality. While packaging often claims “cotton” material, many products were found to be made from polyester (“涤”). Some brands even falsely labeled their products as “pure cotton.”

A particularly alarming practice involved the use of a strong, foul-smelling, and potentially hazardous “quick-drying detergent” sprayed onto the underwear. Workers warned against direct contact with this substance. Furthermore, at least one company admitted to producing disposable underwear for several well-known brands without sterilization to cut costs.

The investigation raises serious concerns about the hygiene and safety of disposable underwear currently flooding the market. Experts are now calling for stricter regulation and increased transparency within the industry to protect consumers.
