**Chennai, March 14, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government has announced a significant investment in cultural preservation and promotion in its 2025-26 budget. Finance Minister Thangam Thennarasu revealed a ₹1 crore prize for the World Tamil Olympiad and the translation of the Tirukkural into 45 languages globally.
The budget also earmarks funds for extensive archaeological excavations at eight sites across the state, including Keezhadi, Telunganur, Vellalur, Adichanur, Manikollai, Karivalamvanthanallur, Pattanamarudur, and Nagapattinam. Furthermore, the state plans to establish two new museums: a Noyyal museum in Erode district (₹24 crore) and a Navai museum in Ramanathapuram district (₹21 crore). These initiatives aim to bolster Tamil language and cultural heritage.
