**Chennai, March 14, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu BJP has announced a state-wide protest against the alleged ₹1,000 crore liquor scam involving the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (Tasmac). BJP state president K. Annamalai claims the scam is “unprecedented,” surpassing similar scandals in Delhi and Chhattisgarh.
In a video message, Mr. Annamalai stated that the party will lay siege to the Tasmac headquarters in Chennai on March 17th, and subsequently to all Tasmac outlets across the state. He accused the ruling DMK party of attempting to deflect attention from the scandal by raising other issues. He cited the shifting of Minister Senthilbalaji from a government to a private hospital during his ED arrest in 2023, and his subsequent reinstatement to his ministerial post, as evidence of the DMK’s involvement. Mr. Annamalai asserted that the DMK’s power is sustained by funds from Tasmac and called for public scrutiny of the party’s actions.
