Fri Mar 14 14:11:57 UTC 2025: ## Four Men Sentenced to Double Life Imprisonment for Rape of Mentally Challenged Teen

**Salem, Tamil Nadu, March 14, 2025** – A Salem court has sentenced four men to double life imprisonment for the rape of a 17-year-old mentally challenged girl in 2017. The incident occurred near Tharamangalam, where the accused, A. Sivakumar (26), P. Prabhu (25), R. Thamaraiselvan (25), and P. Vedappan (45), lured the girl to a burial ground and assaulted her.

The case was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following a complaint by the victim’s parents. The special POCSO court in Salem found the four men guilty and, in addition to the double life sentence, imposed a fine of ₹2,000 on each. The convicts have been remanded to Salem Central Prison.
