Hyderabad, March 14, 2025 – Five candidates were unanimously elected to the Telangana Legislative Council (MLC) on Thursday, March 13th, under the MLA quota. The lack of contested nominations resulted in a swift and uncontested election process.
The ruling Congress party secured four seats, with its ally, the CPI, winning one. Congress’s elected MLCs are Vijayashanti, Addanki Dayakar, and Shankar Nayak. The CPI’s representative is Nellakanti Satyam. The opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) won a single seat, with Dasoju Sravan claiming victory. This outcome is notable considering the BRS, despite having 38 members initially (though 10 later defected to Congress), only nominated for one of the available seats.
The returning officer, Upender, distributed the authorization certificates to the newly elected MLCs. The elections filled five vacancies created by the expiring terms of existing BRS members.
