**Pudukottai, March 13, 2025** – Approximately 150 individuals in Alangudi, Pudukottai district, received free renal disease screenings and treatment at an awareness camp held Thursday in observance of World Kidney Day. The camp, organized at the Government Hospital, was presided over by Chief Medical Officer M. Periyasamy.
According to Dr. Periyasamy, the camp aimed to address the growing concern of kidney disease in rural populations, largely attributed to self-medication and shifting dietary habits. Participants received education on the dangers of unregulated medication and guidance on managing diabetes and hypertension through healthy lifestyle choices. Physicians Bharathikannamma, Alagappan, Subha, and Aravind, along with hospital staff and technicians, participated in the event.
