Thu Mar 13 15:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi Capitals’ Unexpected Break Boosts Confidence Ahead of WPL Final

**Mumbai, March 14** – Delhi Capitals vice-captain Jemimah Rodrigues believes the extended break between their last league match and the Women’s Premier League (WPL) final will be a decisive advantage. The Capitals, who qualified for their third consecutive final after a hiatus following their March 7th defeat, have used the time for team bonding and focused training sessions.

“It’s actually working for our team,” Rodrigues stated in a virtual press conference. “The WPL was hectic; back-to-back games and travel. This break has allowed us good training and team bonding.”

The unexpected layoff, a consequence of the tournament’s scheduling, meant DC didn’t play at the Brabourne Stadium during the league stage. However, Rodrigues dismissed this as a concern, highlighting the team’s familiarity with similar pitches and their productive practice sessions.

Rodrigues praised the leadership of captain Meg Lanning, emphasizing her calm yet aggressive approach, and lauded the resurgence of opener Shafali Verma, whose impressive form (300 runs in eight matches at a 157 strike rate) follows a period of setbacks. She also highlighted veteran pacer Shikha Pandey’s consistent performance, attributing 11 wickets from eight matches to her crucial bowling in pressure situations.

The Capitals are prepared to face the winner of the Eliminator between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants in the final on March 15th, aiming for their maiden WPL title. Rodrigues expressed confidence in their ability to overcome past setbacks, stating, “This team just doesn’t know how to give up.”
