**Mumbai, March 13, 2025** – A heatwave warning issued for several cities in Maharashtra, including Mumbai, has been downgraded, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). While Mumbai experienced its first 40-degree Celsius day on March 11th, temperatures are expected to gradually decrease over the next few days. The IMD predicts dry conditions for the next four days (March 13-16) across much of the state.

However, Akola and Chandrapur districts are expected to see a rise in temperatures, with heatwave conditions predicted for Akola on March 14th and 15th, and for Chandrapur on March 15th. Akola reached 41°C on Thursday, while Chandrapur hit 40°C. The IMD forecasts these temperatures to peak at 41°C and 40°C respectively before declining slightly. Other parts of Vidarbha and Marathwada are experiencing average temperatures around 38°C. Nagpur recorded 40°C, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 37°C. Mumbai’s temperature is expected to remain at 36°C for the rest of the week. The IMD previously issued heatwave warnings for Thane, Palghar, Raigad (Navi Mumbai), and Ratnagiri, but these areas are also anticipated to see a decrease in temperatures.
