DEHRADUN, INDIA – A speeding Mercedes-Benz caused a fatal hit-and-run accident in Dehradun on Wednesday night, killing four people and injuring two others. Police reported that the incident occurred around 8 pm near Uttaranchal Hospital when a Mercedes-Benz GLS 400, bearing a Chandigarh license plate, struck four roadside workers and two individuals on a scooter.
The four workers were pronounced dead at the hospital. Two of the deceased have been identified as Mansharam (30) and Ranjit (35), both residents of Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. The identities of the other two victims are yet to be confirmed. The scooter riders, Dhaniram and Mohammad Shakib, sustained leg injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The driver of the Mercedes fled the scene immediately following the collision. However, the vehicle has been recovered by authorities, and multiple police teams are actively searching for the suspect. An investigation is underway.
