Wed Mar 12 20:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Lions Re-sign Defensive Lineman Onwuzurike, Snatching Him From Bengals’ Grasp

**CINCINNATI, OH** – The Detroit Lions have re-signed defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike to a one-year, $5.5 million contract, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. This move prevents Onwuzurike, a potential free agent target for the Cincinnati Bengals, from bolstering their defensive line.

Onwuzurike, 27, spent the last four seasons with the Lions after being drafted in the second round in 2021. He recorded 28 tackles, 13 quarterback hits, and 1.5 sacks in the 2023 season. Instead of committing to a longer-term deal, Onwuzurike opted for a short-term contract, keeping his options open for next year’s free agency. The Bengals, who already feature B.J. Hill and T.J. Slaton on their defensive line, had hoped to add Onwuzurike to their roster.
