Wed Mar 12 16:00:42 UTC 2025: ## IGNCA Opens 10th Regional Centre in Tiruchanur
**TIRUPATI, March 12, 2025** – The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) inaugurated its tenth regional centre in Tiruchanur, Andhra Pradesh, on Wednesday. The centre, established in collaboration with the National Sanskrit University (NSU), Tirupati, will focus on promoting Indian cultural arts, particularly Vaishnavism and sculpture, among younger generations.
The building housing the new centre was donated by Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Iyengar, the first Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha. A special exhibition featuring relics and a statue of Agastya Maharishi, a sage believed to have united north and south India, was also unveiled. The relics were brought from Varanasi for the occasion.
IGNCA Member-Secretary Sachchidananda Joshi highlighted the centre’s role in bridging the gap between traditional arts and modern audiences. NSU Vice-Chancellor G.S.R. Krishnamurthy emphasized the importance of preserving and disseminating the rich cultural heritage embedded within the Sanskrit language, stating that the university aims to provide holistic education encompassing both literature and the arts. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani’s wife, Sudha Reddy. The new centre is intended to serve as a hub for Telugu states.
