Thu Mar 13 01:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Holika Dahan to be Performed After Bhadra’s Departure on March 13th
**New Delhi, March 12** – This year’s Holika Dahan will be performed on March 13th, coinciding with Falgun Purnima, but with a crucial caveat. Astrological calculations indicate that the inauspicious Bhadra period will overlap with the evening. Bhadra, believed to be an unfavorable time for auspicious ceremonies, will last from 10:36 AM to 11:28 PM on March 13th.
Consequently, the most auspicious time for Holika Dahan will be **after 11:28 PM**, according to astrologers. The most favorable time frame for the ceremony is between 11:27 PM and 12:15 AM, providing a window of approximately 47 minutes.
Devotees are advised to perform the ritual after the Bhadra period concludes. The traditional offerings to Holika include a garland of cow dung cakes, along with roli, akshat (unbroken rice), fruits, flowers, turmeric, moong, jaggery, gulal (coloured powder), and grains. Five to seven circumambulations (prakrimas) are recommended after offering these items while tying a sacred thread (kalawa) around the Holika. Finally, barley or akshat should be offered to the fire and the new crop is traditionally roasted in the flames and distributed as prasad.
