**Mumbai, India** – Actress Kishwer Merchant has shared intimate details about her interfaith marriage and unexpected pregnancy in recent podcast interviews. Merchant, a Muslim, married Suyash Roy, a Hindu, in 2016, overcoming initial challenges due to their differing religious backgrounds.

In an interview with Debina Bonnerjee, Merchant revealed that she conceived unexpectedly at the age of 40. She described experiencing mild fatigue and increased appetite for two months before realizing she was pregnant. The pregnancy was a surprise, confirmed only after a home pregnancy test.

Merchant also discussed her religious practices in interviews with both Debina Bonnerjee and Sana Khan. While she identifies as Muslim, she proudly stated that her son has a Hindu name and is aware of both Islamic prayers (azan and Jummah) and Hindu traditions. She also explained the unique challenges of observing Ramadan in her Hindu in-laws’ home, often having to eat her pre-dawn meal (sehri) alone. Despite this, she emphasized her ability to fast even without the traditional sehri meal, highlighting her upbringing with family-based Ramadan observances. She further revealed her inclusive approach to spirituality, attending temples, churches, gurudwaras, and mosques. The actress’s candidness has sparked conversation about interfaith relationships and navigating diverse religious practices within a family.
