**Chennai, March 12, 2025:** Tamil Maanila Congress (Moopanar) president G.K. Vasan has urged the Tamil Nadu state government to take immediate action to protect thousands of bags of paddy stored in the open at Direct Purchase Centers (DPCs) across the Cauvery delta region. Heavy rains have submerged the stocks, causing significant damage to the harvested grain.
Mr. Vasan highlighted the lack of adequate storage space and tarpaulins at several DPCs as the primary reason for the damage. He criticized the recurring nature of this problem, emphasizing the need for concrete measures to prevent future losses. He called for concerted government intervention to address this issue and safeguard farmers’ livelihoods.
