Tue Mar 11 16:00:38 UTC 2025: ## Former Soldier Receives Whole-Life Sentence for Triple Murder
**Cambridge, England** – Kyle Clifford, 26, a former British soldier, has been handed a whole-life prison sentence for the brutal murders of Carol Hunt (61), and her daughters Louise (25) and Hannah (28). The killings, described by the judge as “brutal and cowardly,” took place at the family’s home in Bushey, north of London.
Clifford, who used a crossbow and a knife in the attack, was also convicted of raping Louise Hunt, his former partner. The court heard that the murders were the culmination of a carefully planned attack following the end of his 18-month relationship with Louise. He deceived Carol Hunt into allowing him access to the house under the pretense of returning Louise’s belongings. He then lay in wait for Louise, before restraining, raping, and murdering her. Hannah Hunt was fatally shot upon returning home from work.
Justice Joel Bennathan, delivering the sentence in Clifford’s absence (he refused to attend), condemned the killer’s actions, describing him as a “jealous man soaked in self-pity – a man who holds women in utter contempt.”
Following the murders, Clifford attempted suicide, shooting himself in the chest with the crossbow. He remains paralyzed from the chest down and attends court in a wheelchair.
In a powerful victim impact statement, John Hunt, the husband and father of the victims and a BBC sports commentator, expressed his desire to confront Clifford directly. He described Clifford as a psychopath who had skillfully concealed his true nature during his relationship with Louise. He also praised his daughter Louise’s bravery.
The case has sent shockwaves through the community and highlighted the devastating consequences of domestic violence. The police investigation involved a large-scale manhunt before Clifford was found injured in a cemetery in Enfield, north London, the day after the murders.
